Me and my wife, mapet likes to pamper ourselves with a relaxing visit at a nearby spa, sipping a glass of champagne while neck deep in a milk bath (there goes my imagination, of course i can't afford the latter). Having an hour of a well-deserved massage under subdued lighting and a perfect ambiance re-energize our tired bodies and revive our senses.
Just a year ago, we no longer visit a nearby spa, we decided to have our own spa instead so we can visit more often!! With our partners, chikie, aya, and monching (all spa-lovers), we brainstormed and came up with an indian-inspired massage spa, the ayurveda spa, and later on became the ayurvedic massage and yoga studio with the inclusion of my brother-in-law, Fritz - a certified, gifted, yoga/dance instructor extraordinaire. The spa is located right at the heart of Davao metropolis, Legaspi corner Rizal Sts., at the 2nd flr. of Legaspi Suites, owned by a well-known businessman.
Ayurvedic massage (from ayurveda- meaning "science of life") is an indian-inspired massage that promotes self-awareness and holistic health through the practice of ayurveda tradition, one of the most comprehensive systems of holistic living. Derived from an ancient Indian tradition, our styles of massage are designed to help loosen toxins in our body and release excesses. The goal is to restore balance and re-establish calm and harmony, deeply cleansing and purifying to the mind, body, and soul. The massage has a rhythm and flow that covers the entire body. Herbalized "warm" oils (most of our clients love it) are used which pinpoints individual imbalances.
Stylish and oozing with character, the Ayurvedic massage and Yoga studio presents a unique design well-loved by our loyal, and walk-in clients as well. It's a combination of Indian and Filipino artistry exemplified by choices of wood (bagalnga, tugas) and drift woods for an added impact giving a fresh feel of a traditional Filipino native houses. Bamboo blinds cover each room to make it more private yet sophisticated, suggesting a feeling of a home-away-from-home. Our staff, highly trained and ever pleasant serves with utmost respect and always look after every client's satisfaction.
Yoga sessions are usually scheduled early in the morning, when it's peaceful and quiet for deeper concentration and relaxation of the mind and body. Fritz, originally from fitness first manila and cebu, gradually embraced yoga not just a fitness regimen, but a way of life. He offers meditative and Ashtanga Yoga (power yoga), along with other fields of Yoga. In May of 2008, he was invited to teach Yoga in the posh island resort of Amanpulo, where celebrities and famous personalities converge, before returning to Davao to promote Yoga in His beloved hometown.
The ayurvedic massage and Yoga studio - a definite must-try.
